Month 1, Week 3: Family
Family words come up constantly in real conversation — and they're a great excuse to practice possessives (my, your, his/her).
Vocabulary
- la famille — the family
- le père — father
- la mère — mother
- la fille — daughter
- le fils — son
- les parents — parents
- mon / ma / mes — my (changes with gender/number)
Grammar
Possessives agree with the noun's gender, not the owner's. 'My father' is mon père (masculine), but 'my mother' is ma mère (feminine) — even though 'my' doesn't change in English.
