About

Eight years in Canada. Still no permanent residence. So we tried something new.

I moved to Canada on a work permit eight years ago. I built a life here — a job, a home, a kid who’s now twelve and speaks better French than I ever tried to. Permanent residence never quite happened. Stronger French could change that math.

I looked at French classes. I looked at apps. Then my daughter, who’d been taking French at school for years, said something that stuck: “I could just teach you.”

So that’s what we’re doing. She plans the lessons. She corrects my pronunciation, and she’s not gentle about it. I do the homework, mess it up on camera, and try again next week.

What this channel is not

We’re not an immigration law firm. We’re not a certified French school. Nobody here can promise you a visa or an official score. What we can do is show you exactly what a real, consistent six-month effort looks like — including the parts that don’t go well.

Why we don’t show our faces

Our daughter is twelve. We keep her identity private — no school, no face, no location — and use avatars instead. That’s not a gimmick. It’s a rule we don’t bend, even when it would make a video easier to shoot.

Where we’re starting

Day one, French score: close to zero. Come watch where we end up.
